  • Salvatore (Salvo) Giammarresi is a globalization executive with two decades of experience and broad international product, technology, program management, content, operations, quality assurance, and human resources responsibility. Salvo masters organizational change management around globalization vision with clear focus on metrics, results, ROI and operational excellence. While Salvo’s depth and breadth of globalization experience is vast, his differentiator is the ability to combine analytical process skills with building, leading and motivating teams to innovate and execute. Through his ability to share vision and drive action across cross-functional teams he has a track record of hyper enabling international revenue growth. Salvo was recruited to PayPal as Head of Globalization in 2012 to overhaul worldwide globalization and localization, to steer change management, and to integrate globalization into the DNA of the company across corporate functional areas. In 2013 he was tapped to also lead the Customer Engineering Program Management Office. Salvo drives international revenue while balancing customer, operational and business needs. Salvo’s contributions evangelizing a global vision across the entire enterprise influenced C-Level staff, with PayPal setting a 2014 corporate strategic focus on “Go Global” with ambitious benchmarks. As a result PayPal shipped 58 globalized products in 2013 and 157 in 2014. He initiated globalization product scorecard reporting of identified KPIs at monthly Product/CTO Operational Reviews. During his first six months, he managed to reduce globalization bugs by 85%. He initiated, planned and executed company-first product rollout in Arabic and Korean languages, adding a total of 29 supported countries in 2014. From 2010-2012 Salvo served as Senior Director of Localization Engineering at Yahoo. He set new vision, strategy and processes transforming localization into a strategic growth engine for Yahoo. By centralizing all localization resources, functions and budgets, he reduced the number of vendors from 100+ to 6; per-translated word cost by 48%; project management fees by 55%; and localization engineering costs by 56%, all while leading the largest localization effort in Yahoo’s history by localizing Yahoo Mail into 46 languages and into 74 markets including company-first rollout in 19 Arabic countries and 6 Indian languages.
